Strategic development directions of the depressed rural territories under contemporary conditions

The article discusses the concept and criteria for territories to rate them as depressed. Directions and efficiency of the State strategy of overcoming of depression in rural territories are shown on the example of the North-West Federal District regions. Recommendations on improvement of the regulatory mechanism of territorial development are given.
