Cross-border cooperation as a mechanism for the development of border rural

The article shows that traditional approaches to socio-economic development of rural bordering areas not provide a solution to existing problems. Using of cross-border cooperation proposed as a mechanism for territorial development of border areas, which has experience in EU countries, including the Republic of Poland. Available types and variations of cross-border cooperation involving municipalities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Poland are examined. Cross-border cooperation of municipalities neighboring states in the form of the Euroregion is separated highlight. The reasons for the low efficiency of a number of European regions with the participation of the Russian side are shown. Principles, forms and directions of development of cross-border cooperation, which is capable to get the socio-economic impact in the border areas of neighboring countries are disclosed.
